Stop The Madness??

As You Might Have Expected ...
... there's been no shortage of fall-out from yesterday's twin announcements by Reps. Jeese White,
D-Washington, and Eugene DePasquale, D-York, calling for Bill DeWeese to step down as House majority leader.
Our friends at Capitolwire get things started this morning with a story about freshman Rep. Frank Andrews Shimkus, D-Lackawanna, who's asking his colleagues TO STOP THE MADNESS!!!!
"We're just killing each other," he wrote in an e-mail obtained by Capitolwire. "When I was out in Pittsburgh, I felt like it was Christmas in July for the Republicans as we save each other, for their benefit, in public."
Shimkus also asked his colleagues to stop the "feeding frenzy," by knocking it off with their calls for DeWeese to step down.
More astute readers may recall that 10 House Dems have now asked DeWeese to step aside, arguing that it's better for the party and better for the caucus if he's not in charge.
Shimkus said the 10 were "posturing" with their public statements.
White didn't take that well at all, telling Capitolwire, "I don't consider stating my conscience to be posturing. I
respect the right of every member to speak out or not speak out on
issues affecting Pennsylvania. I spoke with Rep. DeWeese multiple times
prior to making my announcement and can say with certainty that I am
not 'fighting' with anyone."
